Job Description

M&A and Post-Deal Integration:

  • Work with corporate tax team in US/European on transactions and restructuring
  • Assist in due diligence for Corporate’s mergers & acquisitions
  • Team with legal, business, and finance functions to identify tax planning opportunities, risks, and other tax related support during corporate restructuring and mergers and acquisitions activities
  • Coordinate and advice on local Asia’s mergers& including supervise, review, or perform research, analysis and implementation of potential tax planning opportunities
  • Analyse transactions to assess the most tax efficient means of achieving target structures, as well as identifying any potential tax planning opportunities., prepare/review memos, presentation materials, or formal written advice
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for post-deal integration in asia region
  • Perform tax analysis and evaluation on key business decisions
  • Provide direct tax advice on supply chain, import/export activities and cross border transactions
  • Liaise with external tax advisors on critical tax projects

Tax Controversy and Regional Project Support:

  • Manage tax audits/controversies and self-assessment as request by tax bureau
  • Research and analysis of tax treaties, tax regulations and various tax issues as required regarding regional projects
  • Assess on the local PE risks and income tax provision risk
  • Perform tax health check based on BEPS actions in region
  • Coordinate with Treasury team on treasury projects from local tax perspectives (loans, cash pooling, dividend, others)
  • Coordinate and assist with SSC’s statutory and tax compliance teams to ensure them to launch most tax compliance SOPs and provide guidance to their tax compliance workings
  • Keep abreast of the changes in tax laws and regulations

Requirements

Strong business acumen, result oriented mindset together with strong tax technical knowledge are critical in working in the commercial environment. The candidates should possess the following experiences and skills:

  • 5+ years or above tax experience with a Big 4 accounting firm and US MNCs or 4-5 years experiences with only firm experience can also be considered (if no asia tax exposure, China tax exposure can also be considered)
  • Practical and hands-on regional tax experience with strong China tax experience
  • Degree in accounting or finance and a professional designation
  • US GAAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin
  • Strong interpersonal skill with the ability to persuade/influence peers and superiors outside of one’s department/office
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software and external tax research engines
  • Requires high level of enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the capability to effectively operate with minimal direct supervision and drive teams toward organizational objectives in a complex, diverse and challenging environment
  • Initiative to pursue endeavours not specifically identified by Supervisor
