Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies for construction projects.
  • Lead contract administration, procurement, tendering, subcontract management, and commercial negotiations.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, cash flow, variations, claims, and financial performance.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and negotiate contracts with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms, commercial policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Provide strong technical and project leadership across construction projects.
  • Oversee project planning, design coordination, engineering, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Review technical proposals, drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules.
  • Ensure construction activities meet required quality, technical, safety, and performance standards.
  • Work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, Engineering teams, consultants, and contractors to resolve technical and project issues.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support value engineering and constructability reviews to improve project efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Lead and develop commercial, technical, and project management teams.
  • Establish effective collaboration between commercial, engineering, procurement, and construction functions.
  • Manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Provide senior management with regular reports on project progress, commercial performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive senior-level experience in the construction industry, ideally in a Commercial Director, Commercial Manager, Project Director, or similar leadership role.
  • Strong technical understanding of construction methods, engineering, design coordination, and project delivery.
  • Strong project management experience, including planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and project execution.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction contracts, commercial management, claims, variations, and procurement.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and make commercially sound decisions.
  • Professional qualifications or certifications in engineering, project management, quantity surveying, or contract management are advantageous.
