About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Trader will support the G&O trade strategy through market research, trend analysis, and full trade execution — from initiating supplier/client relationships to hedging price exposure. This is a hands-on trading role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and enjoys turning market insight into profitable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Market Analysis
- Research market trends, macro factors, and conditions affecting related commodities (e.g. weather, FX rates)
- Monitor market data, economic news, and industry insights to identify trading opportunities
- Perform technical and fundamental analysis to inform trade decisions
- Analyze trade execution data — broker due diligence, execution measurement, and performance tracking
Risk Management
- Monitor and manage trading positions in line with risk parameters
- Proactively mitigate potential losses and adhere to pre-defined risk limits
Collaboration & Client Relationships
- Manage supplier and client relationships — negotiating price and sales terms, overseeing logistics, and recording transaction costs
- Set shipping schedules and terms to ensure prompt, accurate execution
- Develop new business opportunities with existing clients
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field (Master's in International Business is a plus)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in trading, financial analysis, or a related role — with at least 2 years in commodities trading
- Strong understanding of commodity markets, agricultural commodity growing cycles, and their business impact
- In-depth understanding of financial markets and trading instruments
- Strong analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills; disciplined and detail-oriented
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and shifting market conditions
- High integrity, strong communication, and collaborative mindset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, ITAS, and trading platforms (Bloomberg, Reuters, Excel, Python)
