Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commercial strategies for construction projects.
- Lead contract administration, procurement, tendering, subcontract management, and commercial negotiations.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, cash flow, variations, claims, and financial performance.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and negotiate contracts with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms, commercial policies, and applicable regulations.
- Provide strong technical and project leadership across construction projects.
- Oversee project planning, design coordination, engineering, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Review technical proposals, drawings, specifications, method statements, and project schedules.
- Ensure construction activities meet required quality, technical, safety, and performance standards.
- Work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, Engineering teams, consultants, and contractors to resolve technical and project issues.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
- Support value engineering and constructability reviews to improve project efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Lead and develop commercial, technical, and project management teams.
- Establish effective collaboration between commercial, engineering, procurement, and construction functions.
- Manage relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Provide senior management with regular reports on project progress, commercial performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Drive a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline.
- Extensive senior-level experience in the construction industry, ideally in a Commercial Director, Commercial Manager, Project Director, or similar leadership role.
- Strong technical understanding of construction methods, engineering, design coordination, and project delivery.
- Strong project management experience, including planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and project execution.
- Extensive knowledge of construction contracts, commercial management, claims, variations, and procurement.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and make commercially sound decisions.
- Professional qualifications or certifications in engineering, project management, quantity surveying, or contract management are advantageous.
